CoachellaFestivalTakingTo The HighSeas WithACruise?
Looks like Coachella won’t have to worry about being too loud, because the festival has just got a little doper.
On Monday, Goldenvoice, the promoter behind the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced that they had been quietly organizing a music-themed cruise that would sail out of Florida to further expand the Coachella brand. – Flip and get more details after the jump…
Yes Coachella is heading to the Eastern shores with their first cruise setting sail launch as early as December of this year. Artist lineup, dates and pricing details are not yet known.
Though, there have NOT been any firm details in regards to the music-themed cruise as they wanted to protect their relationship with the promoter.
Nevertheless, “the ship looks amazing,” promised one artist representative who works with Goldenvoice. However, AEG Live and AEG also declined to comment.
Music Cruises are swiftly becoming the new concert platform for vacationers who love music and exotic destinations. It has also been said that they’re a healthy segment of the live music business.
Goldenvoice has become a concert industry powerhouse on the strength of its Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the desert city of Indio.
And taking the Festival concept to the open seas is an amazing additive for the music lover.
Coachella’s future in Indio may be coming to a close, since Indio councilman this summer proposed an amusement tax, which Goldenvoice has threatened to take its festival elsewhere. It also has left fans speculating that the promoter would be unveiling a long-term home for Coachella and its country-focused Stagecoach festival. Coachella began in 1999 in Indio and has become a staple in the music industry.
But with high demand comes change, especially since Goldenvoice’s contract with Indio runs through the 2013 festivals, and tickets have already sold out for next year’s Coachella Festival.
So where will Coachella end up in 2014?
Indio has since backtracked on its effort to pass a new tax, and has pledged to work out a long-term agreement with Goldenvoice.
As reported by The Times, Goldenvoice is looking to stage a festival that could draw as many as 150,000 in Orange County’s Great Park as early as 2013.
But get you sun tan lotion, your passport ready and your hottest swim wear packed and get ready for a whole new way to rock out with Coachella’s music-themed cruise setting sail this December if all goes as planned.
