Posted by

On one of the hotter days of the summer, I was able to escape and vist the Los Angeles Count Museum of Arts For the third installment of Through the MicPeople Under The Stairs, the most successful independent hip hop duo of all time, tops an impressive bill that also features Skeme and VerBS. Through the Mic co-curatorMURS hosts.
Tonight was one of those nights that made me feel to be a proud Los Angeles as it was just amazing to hear some real hip hop tunes and be able to vibe out to it with fellow fans of the same taste eclectic taste in music.
Never had a chance to see any of the performers until tonight and I have to say it was def. worth the $10 admission. VerbS may have been my favorite as he came out and rocked it like it was in the 80′s and early 90′s.
Here’s a little bio of some of the performers who lit up the night and created a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for all who attended.
People Under The Stairs:
With a pioneering DIY ethic, People Under The Stairs have self-managed, produced, and engineered eight full-length albums, along with countless singles and side projects. The duo of Thes One and Double K is devoted to jazzy samples, danceable beats, intricate rhyming skills, and laid-back humor. Their unique brand of hip hop has earned PUTS scores of fans and critical acclaim all over the globe.
Skeme:
Skeme is quickly proving himself to be one of L.A.’s best with his latest release Pistols and Palm Trees. Raised by his grandparents in Inglewood, Skeme fill his songs with the truths and stories of his environment—real life without the gimmicks.
Verbs:
Like MURS, VerBS is also a former Hamilton High student who has gone on to make moves in hip hop with his positive attitude and unwavering determination. His latest, The Progress EP3: Manifest Awesome, drops later this month.
